Ralph Evelyn Maddock was born in Broadclyst, Devon, in 1898, the son of James and Ellen Maddock. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its Exeter Bank branch.

 

During the First World War Maddock left the bank to join the army. He died on 25 February 1917, while a Cadet in officer training for the Royal Artillery. He was 18 years old.

 

Ralph Maddock is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
