Stanley Bryan Myrton was born in Leicester on 4 January 1886, the only son of Alfred Myrton, a provision merchant's agent, and his wife Mary. He was educated at Wyggeston School, Leicester. In August 1902, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for Parr's Bank.
In February 1916 Myrton left his job as a clerk at the bank's Ashby de la Zouch branch to go on military service, becoming a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 30 August 1918. He was 32 years old and left a widow, Margaret.
Stanley Myrton is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Leicester Granby Street branch.
