Thomas Hubert Marsland was born on 12 August 1892. In January 1908 he went to work for Manchester & County Bank.

 

In May 1915 Marsland left his job at the bank's New Mills branch to join the army, becoming a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 28 August 1917. He was 25 years old.
