Henry Noel

Henry William Edgar Noel was born in London in 1881, the son of William James Noel, a solicitor's clerk, and his wife Edith Jane. He worked for Glyn, Mills, Currie & Co in its Town Office stock department.

 

In 1909 Noel married Lilian Kate Underhill. They had a daughter together, Marjorie, born in 1912.

 

In January 1917 Noel left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Private in the London Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 30 October 1917. He was 36 years old. Marjorie Noel subsequently became a beneficiary of the Bank Clerks' Orphanage, which provided grants for the education of children of deceased bank workers.
