James Higginson Norbury was born on 4 March 1888. From January 1904 he worked for Manchester & County Bank.
In October 1914 Norbury left his job at the bank's Altrincham branch to join the army, becoming a Lance Corporal in the Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action in France on 20 July 1916. He was 28 years old.
