Thomas Lunt Oxton was born in Toxteth Park, Lancashire, on 27 February 1893, the son of John Lunt Oxton, a bookkeeper, and his wife Elizabeth Frances. From about 1909 he worked for Parr's Bank.

 

In August 1914 Oxton left his job at the bank's Garston branch to go on military service, becoming a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery. He was killed in action at Cambrai, France, on 17 October 1918. He was 25 years old.

 

Thomas Oxton is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Liverpool Allerton Road branch.
