Frederick Horace Prout was born on 6 June 1895, the son of William Thomas Prout and his wife Florence Marian. In July 1912, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In January 1916 Prout left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to join the army, becoming a Private in the London Regiment. He died on the Western Front on 14 October 1918. He was 23 years old.

 

Frederick Prout is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
