Maurice Emile Pauchet was born in Meaux, France, on 2 April 1884. He began working in Paris for London County & Westminster Bank (Paris) upon its foundation in October 1913, having previously worked for Société Genérale for 14 years. Pauchet served as one of the bank's two joint sub-managers and was responsible for the French part of the business.

 

In March 1915 Pauchet was mobilised, leaving his job at the bank to join the French army. He was killed on 10 March 1916 at La Chalade, Meuse, France, when he was serving in the 76th Infanterie. He was 31 years old and left a widow and child.
