Thomas Gregory Parkin was born in Gainsborough in 1894, the son of Thomas and Mary Rose Parkin. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank at its Lincoln Smiths Bank branch.

 

Early in the First World War Parkin left the bank to go on military service, and by 1915 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Lincolnshire Regiment, on active service at Gallipoli. He was killed in action there on 9 August 1915. He was 21 years old.

 

Thomas Parkin is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
