Douglas Walter Quaife was born in Holloway, London, in 1889, the son of Douglas William Quaife and his wife Agnes. From about 1909 he worked for Parr's Bank. He was also a member of the bank's staff sports club.

 

During the First World War Quaife left his job at the bank's London Bartholomew Lane office to join the army, becoming a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He died in France on 3 May 1917. He was 27 years old.

 

Douglas Quaife is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
