Arthur Mills Robinson was born on 13 August 1898, the son of William Duty Robinson, a bank clerk, and his wife Annie. In December 1914 he went to work for Manchester & Liverpool District Banking Co as a junior at its Manchester Ancoats branch. In 1916 he transferred to the bank's Manchester head office.
In February 1917 Robinson left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Private in the London Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 5 April 1918. He was 19 years old.
