Harold Reid

Harold Wilson Reid was born on 5 February 1895, the son of John Wilson Reid, a mathematical master at Inverness Royal Academy. In June 1912, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for National Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Inverness branch. He became a clerk there in June 1915.

 

Early in the First World War Reid left the bank to go on military service as a Private in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action at Festubert, France, on 16 June 1915. He was 20 years old.
