Walter Cyril Leigh Radford was born at Braddan, Isle of Man, on 3 March 1898, the son of Samuel Collins Radford and his wife Mabel Annie. From about 1913 he worked for Parr's Bank.

 

During the First World War Radford left his job at the bank's Liverpool branch to join the army, becoming a Private in the Royal Sussex Regiment. He died on 22 November 1917 of wounds received in action on the Western Front. He was 19 years old.

 

Walter Radford is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Liverpool City Office branch.
