Place of work: Head Office, London

Died: 10 September 1916

Herbert Hilton Scull was born on 7 April 1879. He was educated at Alleyn's School, Dulwich.

In March 1896, shortly before his 17th birthday, Scull left his post at Robinson's Bank and went to work for London & Westminster Bank as a junior clerk at the bank's London Holborn Circus branch. In July 1897 he was appointed as a teller at the same branch, before becoming a 4th class clerk at London Southwark branch in November 1900 and in the country department of the bank's London head office in April 1907. Scull was subsequently appointed as a 3rd class clerk at the bank's London head office in August 1909. In that year London & Westminster Bank merged with London & County Bank and Scull became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.

In September 1914 Scull left his post at the bank's head office to join the army. He was reported missing in action in France on 10 September 1916, when serving as a Rifleman in the London Regiment. In June 1917 the War Office confirmed that he was presumed killed on that date. He was 37 years old.
