Thomas Shead

Thomas Shead was born on 2 November 1891, the son of Thomas Shead. In August 1910, when he was 18 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank at its London Aldersgate Street branch.

 

In February 1916 Shead left the bank to join the army, becoming a Private in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He was killed in action in France on 3 May 1917. He was 25 years old.

 

Thomas Shead is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Barbican branch.
