Frank Hardcastle Taylor was born on 22 February 1895, the son of George Hardcastle Taylor and his wife Jessie Macleod Taylor. In March 1913, when he was 18 years old, Taylor went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.
In January 1916 Taylor left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to go on military service, initially in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and later in the London Regiment. Private Taylor was killed in action on New Year's Day 1917. He was 21 years old and left a widow, Gladys Elsie.
Frank Taylor is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
