Geoffrey Raistrick Twyman was born in 1900, the son of John Harke Twyman, a stockbroker's clerk, and his wife Mary Hannah. In May 1916, shortly before his 16th birthday, he went to work for Drummonds Bank.

 

In April 1918 Twyman left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Private in the Inns of Court Officers Training Corps. He died on 16 November 1918, five days after the signing of the armistice. He was 18 years old.
