George Tall

George Tall was born in Bath, Somerset, in 1894, the son of William Henry Tall and his wife Bertha. He worked for Union of London & Smiths Bank.

 

During the First World War Tall left his job at the bank's Bath Old Bank branch to join the army. By 1917 he was a Lance Corporal in the 26th (Bankers') Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. He died in Belgium on 1 August 1917.

 

George Tall is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
