Ralph Newman Tedbury was born in Hornsey, Middlesex, in 1898, the son of Percy James Newman Tedbury, a commercial traveller, and his wife Caroline Elizabeth Gertrude. From about 1914 he worked for Parr's Bank.

 

In June 1916 Tedbury left his job at the bank's London Highgate branch to go on military service. Second Lieutenant Ralph Newman Tedbury of the Royal Air Force died on 4 September 1918 of wounds sustained while flying over enemy lines in France. He was 20 years old.

 

Ralph Tedbury is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Swiss Cottage branch.
