Victor William Todman was born on 5 May 1895, the only son of Arthur Todman and his wife Kate. In May 1912, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

In October 1915 Todman left his job as a clerk at the bank's Northwood branch to join the army. Corporal Victor William Todman of the London Regiment died in France on 16 September 1916. He was 21 years old.
