Bryn Gwyn Williams was born on 14 September 1899, the son of John and Mary Williams. In February 1916, when he was 16 years old, he went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as an apprentice at its Carmarthen branch.

 

During the First World War Williams joined the army, serving as a Private in the Cheshire Regiment. He died in France of double pneumonia on 23 April 1918. He was 18 years old.
