Eric Windybank was born in Kingston upon Thames on 15 January 1897, the son of Arthur John Windybank and his wife Emma Louisa. In October 1914, when he was 17 years old, Windybank went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In April 1916 Windybank left his job as a clerk at the bank's Foreign branch, London, to go on military service. Private Eric Windybank of the London Regiment was killed in action on 9 July 1917. He was 20 years old.

 

Eric Windybank is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
