Ernest Hinchcliffe Wadsworth was born in January 1894. He was educated at Carlton Street Commercial School, Bradford, after which he worked for a year in the office of Bradford Dyers. In March 1912 he went to work for Bradford District Bank at its head office. In October 1912 he moved to another bank, Beckett & Co of Leeds.

 

During the First World War Wadsworth left Beckett & Co to join the army and was commissioned in December 1915. Second Lieutenant Ernest Hinchcliffe Wadsworth of the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) died on active service on 12 March 1917. He was 23 years old.
