George Eric Dixon Westcombe was born on 28 October 1891. In March 1911, when he was 19 years old, Westcombe went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

At the outbreak of the First World War, Westcombe left his job as a clerk at the bank's London Lombard Street branch to go on military service as a Private in the London Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 21 May 1916. He was 24 years old.

 

George Westcombe is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
