Place of work: Head Office, London

Died: 28 April 1915

Gilbert Jocelyn Basil Fazakerley Westby was born on 27 April 1881, the only son of Captain Fazakerley-Westby, DL, JP, and his wife Beatrix. In June 1899, when he was 18 years old, Westby went to work for London & Westminster Bank as a teller at its London City office. He was promoted to clerk (4th class) at the same office in 1904. In 1909 London & Westminster Bank merged with London & County Bank, and Westby became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.

At the outbreak of the First World War Westby left his job as a clerk at the bank's London city office to go on military service, and by the following year he was a Captain in the London Regiment.

Captain Westby died in Belgium on 28 April 1915, the day after his 34th birthday.
