Leslie Warren Wreford was born on 10 May 1894, the son of John and Eveline Wreford. In May 1911, five days after his 17th birthday, Wreford went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

During the First World War Wreford left his job as a clerk at the bank's Berkhamsted branch to join the army. Second Lieutenant Leslie Warren Wreford of the London Regiment was killed in action on the Western Front on 16 August 1917. He was 23 years old.
