William Glyn Waters was born on 29 April 1897, the son of James and Sarah Waters. In July 1914, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London County & Westminster Bank.

 

In May 1916 Waters left his job at the bank's Chatham branch to go on military service as a Private in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He was killed on the Western Front on 26 September 1917. He was 20 years old.

 

William Waters is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Chatham branch.
