Duncan Archibald Blair was born on 20 November 1925, the son of Margaret and Charles Blair. He worked for National Bank of Scotland at its Inveraray branch.

 

During the Second World War Blair left the bank to go on war service. He joined the Royal Navy, serving as a Stores Assistant on board HMS Albatross. He died of an illness contracted while on war service in the military hospital in Osborne House, Isle of Wight, on 7 May 1945. He was 19 years old.
