Peter Stanley Burrow was born on 25 February 1915, the son of Charles and Kathleen Burrow. He was educated at Cheadle Hulme School. He joined the staff of District Bank as a junior at its Stockport branch in May 1930. He worked at a number of branches in the Greater Manchester area, including Sale, Eccles and Pendleton, before moving to Stretford branch in December 1939.

 

In June 1940 Burrow left the bank to go on military service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. On 12 September 1942, on the way back from a posting in North Africa, Flight Sergeant Burrow was on board the RMS Laconia, a British troop ship, when it was torpedoed off the coast of West Africa. He died in the attack. He was 26 years old.
