William Kenneth Bellhouse, known to his colleagues as Bill, was born on 7 January 1917, the son of David and Eveleen Bellhouse. He was educated at Tonbridge School. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at Boscombe branch in January 1935. He was promoted to junior clerk in April 1935 and to clerk in April 1937.

 

In September 1939 Bellhouse left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Artillery. He obtained his commission in December 1940 and was drafted to India in 1942. Captain Bellhouse was killed in action in Burma on 3 June 1944. He was 27 years old.
