Cecil Thomas William Cox was born on 17 October 1903, the son of Daniel and Ellen Cox. He was educated at Northfields Council School, Ealing. He joined the staff of Glyn, Mills & Co in 1922 at its head office in Lombard Street, London.

 

During the Second World War Cox left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Army Pay Corps. Corporal Cox was killed on 17 June 1940. He was 36 years old and left a widow, Winifred, whom he had married in 1929.
