Norman Pine Collins, known to his bank colleagues as 'Pine', was born on 14 November 1921. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank in May 1938, working at Teddington branch. 

 

In July 1941 Collins left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Sergeant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed during air operations over Germany on 24 August 1943. He was 21 years old and left a widow, Joyce, whom he had married just a few weeks earlier. 

 

Norman Collins is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Twickenham branch.
