Richard Kenneth Chapman was born in 1913, and went to work for Williams Deacon's Bank in June 1930. In 1939 he was transferred to Blackburn branch.

 

At the outbreak of war Chapman left the bank to go on military service, and by 1943 he was a Flight Sergeant in the Royal Air Force. He was killed in action on 24 December 1943. He was 30 years old and left a widow, Nancy Wilma.
