Robert George Merson Christie was born in 1919, the son of Barbara and William Christie. He worked for National Bank of Scotland at its Elgin branch.

 

During the Second World War Christie left the bank to serve in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Posted to the Far East, Leading Aircraftman Christie was taken prisoner by the Japanese and died in a prisoner of war camp on 2 December 1943.
