Alan Johnston Davidson was born in about 1918, the son of Richard and Agnes Jane Davidson of Peebles. He worked for Commercial Bank of Scotland at its Peebles branch.

 

During the Second World War Davidson left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Sergeant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in action on an operational flight over Germany on 29 June 1940. He was 22 years old.
