Alan Bevan Durrant was born on 19 August 1920, the son of Bevan and Alfred Ernest Durrant. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank in September 1938, working at the bank's Wallington branch. 

 

In September 1940 he left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Leading Aircraftman in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was reported missing, and later presumed dead, in the Far East on 24 March 1942. He was 21 years old. 

 

Alan Durrant is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Wallington branch.
