Peter Miller Douglas was born on 31 May 1913, the son of John and Agnes MacGregor Miller Douglas. In October 1930, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Leith branch. In 1938 he transferred to North Leith branch. 

 

Douglas left the bank to go on military service in September 1939. By 1942 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery. He died on 3 July 1942. He was 29 years old.

 

Peter Douglas is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
