Ronald Arthur Dust was born on 2 November 1919, the son of Ada Elizabeth and Arthur James Dust. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at the Overseas office in August 1936. He was promoted to junior clerk in November 1936 and to clerk in January 1939. 

 

In August 1939 Dust left the bank to go on military service. He joined the Rifle Brigade and served with the Tower Hamlets Rifles. Lieutenant Dust was killed in action in Tunisia on 16 April 1943. He was 23 years old.
