Bank: District Bank

Place of work: Carnforth branch

Died: 3 December 1943

Thomas Crossfield Derham was born on 18 April 1910, the son of Dr Thomas Hanson Crossfield Derham and his wife Edith Hannah. He joined the staff of Manchester & County Bank at its Blackpool branch in July 1927. He moved to St Annes on Sea branch in February 1938 and in September that year he was promoted to clerk at Preston branch. In 1935 County Bank, as it was then known, was taken over by District Bank so Derham became an employee of that bank. In 1936 he moved to Kirkham branch and in 1940 to Carnforth branch.

In April 1942 Derham left the bank to go on military service, joining the Royal Artillery. He was killed on active service in Italy on 3 December 1943. Gunner Derham was 33 years old and left a widow, Margaret Irene, whom he had married two years earlier.
