Harry Eyre

Harry Eyre was born on 20 January 1906, the son of Harry and Mabel Eyre. He was educated at Dulwich College Preparatory and Dulwich College before joining the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at Maidstone branch in June 1922. He was promoted to junior clerk in December 1922 and to clerk in January 1925. He then moved to various London branches, including Finchley Road branch in December 1926, Platt’s Lane Corner branch in July 1927, Watford branch in January 1930, Bloomsbury Square branch in July 1933, Trustee Department in February 1935, and Baker Street branch in April 1936.

 

In November 1941 Eyre left the bank to go on war service as an Ordinary Seaman in the Royal Navy. He died on 19 June 1942 of complications while undergoing an operation for a hernia. He was 36 years old and left a widow, Dorothy, and a young son.
