Peter Richard Egbers was born on 1 June 1921, the son of Thirza and William Victor Egbers. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank at its London Foreign branch in June 1938. 

 

In June 1940 Egbers left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Trooper in the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment. He drowned in India on 6 December 1943. He was 22 years old. His obituary in the bank's staff magazine called him 'a gallant and loved colleague.'

 

Peter Egbers is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
