Dennis Norman Green was born on 8 August 1910, the son of Florence Jessie and Albert Frederick Green. He was educated at Kilburn Grammar School before joining the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at its London office (foreign department) in January 1927. He was promoted to junior clerk in April 1927 and to clerk in April 1929. He moved to Goswell Road branch in November 1929, to Westminster Bridge branch in December 1932, and to London Tottenham Court Road branch in December 1936.

 

Green left the bank to go on military service in September 1939, serving in the East Lancashire Regiment. Second Lieutenant died at Ambala, India, on 27 April 1940. He was 29 years old and left a widow, Phyllis, whom he married in June 1936.
