Colin Hyde was born on 11 June 1918, the son of Walter and Ellen Hyde. He joined the staff of District Bank as a junior at its Hyde branch in May 1937.
In August 1939 Hyde left the bank to go on military service, joining an anti-aircraft regiment of the Royal Artillery. Lieutenant Hyde was killed in a car accident in England on 19 August 1944. He was 26 years old.
