Henry Herbert Hill was born on 16 October 1924, the son of Oliver Joseph and Gladys May Hill. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank in January 1941, when he was 16 years old.

 

In September 1943 Hill left his job at the bank’s London Camden Town branch to join the Royal Navy. By 1946 he was a Leading Radio Mechanic, serving at HMS Collingwood, a Royal Navy shore establishment in Fareham. He died of tuberculosis in hospital in Southport on 20 February 1946. He was 21 years old.

 

Henry Hill is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Camden Town branch.
