Ronald Charles Holmwood was born in 1924, the son of Charles and Beatrice Holmwood. He worked for Glyn, Mills & Co.

 

During the Second World War Holmwood left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. During a navigational training flight on 21 April 1944, Sergeant Holmwood's Wellington flew into high ground at Whernside, Yorkshire and he was killed. He was 19 years old.
