Noel Isham was born on 26 October 1920. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank in February 1938 at its High Wycombe branch, moving to Northwood branch later that year.
In 1938 Isham joined the territorial army (London Rifle Brigade), and on the outbreak of war in September 1939 he was mobilised for active service. He was more than once recommended for a commission but preferred to remain in the ranks with his old comrades.
Rifleman Isham was killed in action during the liberation of France on 30 August 1944. He was 23 years old.
