Richard Hugh Jagger was born on 18 April 1915, the son of Hugh and Margaret Jagger. He was educated at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire. He worked for Glyn, Mills & Co at its Child & Co office.

 

During the Second World War Jagger left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Pilot Officer Jagger was killed in a flying accident during training on 19 April 1941. He was 26 years old.
