Alfred Herbert Luxton was born in Poplar, London, on 2 January 1885, the son of Richard and Sarah Luxton. He and his wife Sarah married in 1911 and they had several children together. Luxton worked as a house painter and labourer, but by 1939 was a night cleaner at Westminster Bank's London Lothbury head office. 

 

He was killed at home in Poplar in an air raid on 30 October 1944. He was 59 years old.
