John Lacey

John Percival Lacey was born on 22 January 1913, the son of Charles Percival and Charlott Jessie Lacey. He was educated at Hackney Downs (Grocers' Company's) School. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at its London head office (Advance Department) in August 1929. He was promoted to junior clerk in November 1929 before moving to Brompton Road branch in 1930. In 1932 Lacey was promoted to clerk. He moved to Mayfair branch in 1936 and to Fenchurch Street branch in 1937.  

 

In 1939, Lacey left the bank to go on military service. He served with the Rifle Brigade, earning the rank of Corporal. Lacey died on 31 March 1943 while on active duty in Northern Africa. He was 30 years old and left a widow, Audrey Olivia.
