Geoffrey Edward Mann was born on 23 March 1923, the son of Thomas Edwin and Mabel Annie Mann. In February 1940 he went to work for Westminster Bank as part of its temporary wartime staff, based at Tonbridge branch. 

 

Mann later left the bank to go on war service, becoming a pilot in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. On 16 July 1943 he took off from RAF Benson in Oxfordshire on a photographic reconnaissance flight over Northern Italy. The plane crashed in Italy, killing both men on board. Flying Officer Mann was 20 years old.

 

Geoffrey Mann is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Tonbridge branch.
